inDesign Publishing Program

Anyone here use this program? I am want to know if inDesign can convert a PDF that was created in Publisher.

I went to their website to "chat" and they wanted a buck so I bit. Then they wanted 49.95 to answer the question. Nope, No way.
  • Thanks for the reply's. Looks like toedtoes gave me a workaround . I'll download a free trial version of inDesign and see if it works
  • Word does a pretty good PDF import, if it's not a pure pixelated image.
  • Try opening the file in Adobe Illustrator. Some data may be lost and or reshuffled, but most should be there.
  • Short answer: No.

InDesign and the PDF file format are both Adobe products. THE Adobe product for creating and manipulating PDF files is Acrobat. If there is one thing Adobe does well, it is making sure its products do not cannibalize its other products.

And, of course, "convert to what" is the essential question.

My brother wrote a book years ago, and sent it somewhere to get it published. All he has any longer is an early Publisher version file of the page layout/text. If there is one thing Microsoft does well, it is make sure you MUST update your software. So his only computerized version of his book is no longer readable by ANY software we've been able to find.

But if what you have is actually a PDF, and not a Publisher file, any PDF reader should be fine with it. To do anything more with it, you need either Acrobat or one of the many non-Adobe products available. But not InDesign.

    Good luck.
  • From what I have read, there is no direct way to do what you want to do.

Indesign doesn't import Publisher or PDFs..

What you will most likely need to do is find a third party software that can make the conversion for you.

Found THIS website which gives some step by step directions that you might find helpful.

HERE is an additional websearch you might find useful.
