Internet speed

Can any one clarify what this means ... I see it as 100 divided by 5, which would be 20Mbs ??? But monkey mostly clueless about tech. And it generally takes 25Mbs or higher for 4K Streaming, unless I'm truly out to lunch here ... probably a fact :) Thanks M44

Comcast ISP: Performance Currently at 100/5Mbs

The days of 1200 baud modems are long gone outside a few specialty uses.

No one is advertising consumer internet services based on those units. So while technically different, other than to be contrary, there is no confusion.
  • And does it not require additional bits to be added to the data for communications purpose? And don’t forget the terms half byte and nibble.
  • Bits and bytes can be confusing. Bits are smaller than bytes.
It can also be misleading in terms of data download.
If someone tells you that you have xx number of megabits speed, it is less, or slower than megabytes speed. 8 bits to a byte.

    Confused?

Try this - Bits vs Bytes
  • The only question would be bits or bytes? Small "b" so it's bits.
