??? Auto-upload doesn't have to be turned on. There is an upload option at the top of the Google Photos window that allows uploading photos from your PC to the cloud that you want on the cloud and that can be shared.

My comment was aimed that praise being given Google apps, by the iPhone user, explaining how easy Apple shares pictures and data using Google apps, instead of itunes
Sorry if I misunderstood your post. But when you refer to "that" or "it" it's hard for the reader to connect what "that" and "it" is referring to.
If your first sentence "there is only one problem with sharing using google apps/cloud" had instead have said "there is only one problem with auto-backup using google apps/cloud" I wouldn't have gone down the rabbit hole. :)
