I couldn't even see the wifi signal indicator so I guess my answer is that I was not able to see the "wifi SSID".

It would be nice if they had one. Several years ago Apple decided that the public shouldn't have such an intrusive device and removed all of them from the store. The one I had worked until an OS update, then it too quit working.

AFAIK the only way to get WiFi anything is to either jail break the device, or go for the $300+ commercial analyzer kit

And that Apple has apparently been replacing customers mobile devices who complain about this connection issue. I don't see why they would do this if it was a router based issue, since a replacement would experience the same problems? :h

I'm not an expert by any means on this stuff, but WiFi Ranger routers could not support iOS6 properly until an Ranger update was provided that enabled WMM. Until we updated to iOS6 my wife's iPad worked fine with the Ranger, but afterwards it would repeatedly lose the connection.

There is a huge amount of misinformation in this thread. You don't have anything wrong with your iPad and neither is there anything "wrong" with the router.

The wifi problem being experienced by iPad running iOS6 results from Apple having implemented a protocol known as WMM. Quite a few routers do not routinely support WMM and some are not able to do so at all. As a result there will be some networks you will have trouble connecting to. If it is a network you need to connect to, like at the office, ask the network administrator if he can enable WMM.

Otherwise, if you experience a problem, go to network settings and click on "Forget this Network" then go back and rejoin it. It is only a temporary fix but it will get you online for a while.

Next time you have an issue connecting with your iPad, ask what router encryption is being used? Specifically, if it's WPA2/AES? I read that some Apple mobile WiFi hardware chipsets may have occasional compatibility issues with certain router WPA2 AES protocols. Apparently, related to authentication, though haven't really followed this as I don't own any Apple mobile devices.

Since you don't have control over a Park's router encryption, there is not much you can do. However, if using your own hardware or virtual repeater to connect to the Park's WiFi, then see if changing the repeater's encryption mode to WPA2 or WPA TKIP allows you to connect?

If this is a persistent issue, then I'd take it back to Apple, and get a updated replacement iPad under warranty.

I wish I was still there to try some of the recommendations, but at home now. As info, I noticed that the wifi antenna was two sites over (about 75 ft. max) so I'm guessing that was close enough. The ipad did not give any indication of even sensing the signal (you know, the little antenna designation that pulses), but my Iphone did see the signal, but as far as I could tell, I was accessing the "net" via 3G rather than over the wifi. Guess I need to get a little more "edjumacated" before I can ask intelligent enough questions to solve this problem. Anyway, glad to hear that at least some others have had this same problem and thanks for the comments.

We have found that there are in fact some locations that Our I pads do not connect to the available WIFI! Since We also have an Acer Win 7 Notebook Computer, We usually just use it instead.

Last Winter I installed Connectify on That Laptop which works like a charm. it allows Us to use Our IPads even in places where they won't connect directly!

We have had as many as 7 different People online at one time via Connectify and Our 4G tercel Internet Stick!

There have been some compatibility issues with certain types of encryption. I would get as close to the wi-fi signal as possible and try again. The wimpy transmitters they put in these things have a difficult time penetrating foilage and walls of rv's. I use a wi-fi repeater with excellent results.
