No two phones cannot have the same phone number.
From personal experience I find Iphones to be a real pain. Their antenna is so weak that in fringe areas they do not get reception. But to each his own

Phone companies don't allow it
However, . If you can get your iPhone unlocked
You can use the same sim card, switching it back and forth between devices

Another thought has come to me :
Maybe a new # for the iPhone 6 that I can forward calls to from the 4S with my old #.
AT&T would still charge for the extra line though.
Guess its true you can't beat the phone company :(

Go to any phone store and try sizing up a Galaxy Note 3. It's very close in size to the new iPhone 6-plus. If the size works for you, jump at the iPhone when released. I am with you on the "senior eyes" issue, so I'm definitely making the switch........

You could port your current AT&T phone number to Google Voice. Then get new phone numbers assigned to your 4s and 6.

When someone calls your current phone number using Google Voice, it will ring both iPhones. You can even transfer a call from one iPhone to the other.

what are you trying to accompolish. two phones? just keep your old phone and then get an iPad mini for your app usage. if you have the mobile share plan, you can tether it off of your phone with no extra charge.

Instead of buying a new phone it sounds to me like what you really want is to keep your existing phone but have a small tablet for other things. Have you considered keeping your phone and getting something like an iPad mini?

There are obvious work arounds as mentioned but will cost you money since you can't have the same number on two phones. The problem with work arounds is they all seem like a pain in the big A. I'd just wait until you can look at and handle both the new iPhone 6 (4.7) and the iPhone 6 Plus (5.5). Maybe it won't be that bad. I feel I am committed to the 6 Plus because the optical image stabilization comes only on that unit and the bigger screen will be all that much better for photo post processing. I don't use an iPhone for talking but more for email, texting, apps and camera. If it fits in the pockets I want to carry it in, I'm there.

I think they will cannibalize the iPad Mini and I hope Apple comes out with a 12" iPad for my next tablet.
