Is there such a thing as a HD portable dish for Direct TV

OP: If all you're worried about is an elevation change of a few feet or even 100, you don't need to reaim the dish.

If other axes change a lot, you will have to reaim (but you didn't say that).

If your floating house rocks on the water, you need more than automatic - you need in-motion.

There is no way that dish will receive the HD birds at 99 and 103.

I'm getting HD with that antenna on Dish. Assumed since that antenna works for Direct too, it would get Direct HD.

I have been using the Slimline SL3-SWM dish for over 4 years and set it up on a tripod even if we are only staying 1 night. Usually takes no more than 15 minutes to have a signal in the 90's on all sats.

The simple small dishes Winegard Carryouts, only receive Direct's STD Dif. programing from a satellite at 101 and use a single LNB.
So, if SD programing is OK, use the Carryout, If you want HD use a Slimeline. Both are available in manual or auto locate.

To receive HD from Direct, you MUST have a Slimline dish which get the 2 HD satellites Direct uses, 99 and 103. The winegard Traveler which is roof mounted wil get you your HD programing you get at home. The Traveler is an auto locate dish and costs around $1700.00. The other choice is a Slimline dish on a tripod, which will be manually setup. The set up will require some learing but works fine. There is no other way to get HD programing from Directv. The other dishes that receive directv's signals are SD (sat 101 only) I've used the Slimline dish on a tripod for 4 years. Just recently, new single cable technology has made using the Slimline easier. Some additional equipment is required for the single wire system though. PM me if you need more info.
