That's why I said "maybe"... Good article, but there's allot of technical info obviously missing that doesn't make this as easy as it sounds for the broadcaster or viewer. One of the issues with sharing transmitters is you are likely not going to have the same coverage you once did; that may be good or bad depending on the audience. The other one is that there are likely allot of 1080HD stations that will back off to 720 or worse in order to accommodate the additional income on their bandwidth. Some are running around claiming the sky is falling and this is a travisty to the consumer that just spent all that money for a high-end HD receiver, but ABC and FOX are, and have been 720 since the beginning of digital so it's not the end of the world.
