Jensen TV shuts off after 10 minutes

have tried pretty much everything but am completely open to new suggestions. Even took TV off wall and brought to electronics store who said it worked all day for him. reconnected it back to coach and shuts off again after 10 minutes with no problems turning back on.
Power was tested with ample voltage to unit, also changed out inline fuse and wire to glass, and there is no timer set either.

  • We had the same problem. Eventually the TV wouldn't come back on. Replaced it with one from Best Buy. Just make sure you measure the mounting holes on the TV before buying one, not all TV's have the same mounting pattern. The new TV in much lighter than the old one.
  • This has been haunting us all summer and getting worse, its not like we watch a lot of TV, but now the principle of this is whats driving me..
although I have seriously entertained the Samsung idea and switch completely to 120
  • Thanks for all responses..
there is no timer set, and also no motion detector.
plugged in another 12volt, no interruption either.
it happens on shore, generator or inverter without fail, initially it happened once in a while, now its consistently every 10 minutes.
Tonight im gonna try testing line to see if after 10 minutes a drop in voltage occurs which may shut tv down.
  • Could it be that the TV is plugged into an outlet powered by a ground fault interrupter? That happened to us. We thought we had a haunted television. It would turn on and off by itself with no action by us even when we were sleeping. Found a loose wire in the bathroom ground fault that was controlling the circuit. After tightening it up we have never had the problem again. Got rid of the ghost!

  • Stay IR signal?
    Just for testing purposes

Turn on tv then Remove remote to another room
Also cover or block the IR sensor on front of the TV

Try new batteries in the remote
Electronics do funny things with low voltage
BTW are you on shore power or using battery and inverter?
Could be low voltage inverter cut off
Are you in an RV park
Close the shade on any window facing the front of the TV
Could be some body else remote turning off you TV
  • I just replaced my Jensen TV. I got a 28' Samsung which has twice the viewing area of the Jensen. The Jensen works perfectly but is small. The drawback is that the Samsung needs 120 VAC. Not so bad since we mostly use RV parks with shore power. I have an inverter but not really got it functional yet.

Considering the cost of a replacement Jensen, I would recommend doing something along the same lines.
  • Plug another 12V item (with at least the same draw as the TV) and see if the power stops on it. Are you using a small power supply that's getting too hot and shutting off in 10 minutes?

  • Do you have it set to turn off after 10 minutes? There is a SLEEP function in the menu, you might check that.
