Been following this thread and finally feel the need to chip in again. In the same circumstance I would have found a place to drink coffee for four hours, returned to the store and bought the product. I don't think the counterman had any obligation to ship the product, he's a stick and brick store. Probably had no way to calculate shipping collect shipping charges, or a access to wrapping and boxing materials. Go to a KMart or WalMart store and ask them to ship you an out-of-stock item as soon as it arrives. I don't think that's gonna happen. Me thinks you just want to complain.
