Kindle fire hdx 8.9 -- Switch Profile

I ask and search Kindle forum -- No luck, so I turn to my "RV friends".

I am a senior. I was given a kindle fire hdx 8.9 D0C9 for the 2 great-grand kids. I set up profiles for each child (3 and 8 years old) with FreeTime. All is working OK except a child can not switch from one profile to the other. I have to log in as a parent and use the child's profile so the child's profile will be active when the child turns on the Kindle. I want the children to be able to switch between themselves without the parent doing anything.

Amazon help says that from the "locked" screen there should be profile in the top left corner. Not on my Kindle.

Any help is welcome. . . . :h
  • That indeed may be the problem since that sounds like a parental control type thing. That may not allow the child profiles to change profiles.

Does the parent need to have a profile setup first? I have FreeTime turn on because the children are younger than 9. Is it a FreeTime problem?

Can't you do a pull-down from the top of the screen that would show profiles?

Pull down does not show the profiles. It does allow me to change the Parental controls, but does not allow one to select a different profile

When I do that, it goes directly to the last child's application and does not give any place to change to second child's apps

  • How about a photo of the opening screen you're referring to. Maybe someone can spot something.
