While I believe you are correct, this particular unit is plug and play, no reconfiguring of settings, no software install and for me, the very uninformed, it was worth a try.
With that being said, my first impressions are positive. Just on a quick check here at home, with just the computers internal antenna, I receive about 4 local Wi- Fi locations, with the Rogue-wave, I receive roughly 50. Keep in mind, the majority of these are encrypted and many have a low signal strength but just the same, it does pull in the locations. At my last Thousand Trails park, I could barely connect to their Wi-Fi at our site but with the Wave, I had a reliable signal and connection. I'm sold!
