Laptop -- Charging Brick -- Surge protector ???

When my laptop is plugged into 110 volts and charging does the charging brick that changes the AC to DC provide protection against power surges and spikes? Should I still have a surge suppressor in...

If you want to do something kind, fuss around a bit to allow better convection cooling of the switched power supply "brick". When I am watching video the brick may go to 120F. Too hot for me...

A tiny fan fixes that.
