Laptop Battery Charging Learning Question...

Does anyone here have actual experience with the internal circuitry of a laptop with regard to bucking voltage from an AC brick?

For instance this laptop utilizes a 19.0 volt 4.0 ampere brick.

I would love to assemble a 10 ampere hour nickle metal hydride "19 volt" battery pack for it.

But NiMH batteries have a definite voltage span from full charge to needs-to-be-recharged.

At 1.2 volts per cell it takes in theory 16 batteries in series to get more-or-less 19 volts.

No car - no wall socket available. Tapping into a Wi-Fi modem.

  • What is the voltage listed on the internal battery pack
Another Jack wired in going to the battery contract terminals,
    Bypassing the internal charge control
Connecting an external battery pack of the needed voltage ?

Almost everything in the laptop except the display is running on 5v
