When my last computer started freezing up with nothing but the message stating I needed to update to Win 10, I tried everything I could to avoid that. Yea, really, it was forcing me and not letting me do anything on the computer.
I tried rebooting, looking for a work around the forced install. I was successful for a while, until one day none of my work around worked any more. I am glad I had everything back-up on an external hard drive I needed, and finally just "let it go!"
Well, that was the beginning of a new disaster. I had to re-install Win 10, like 3 times, copied all my old files back on thinking everything was finally OK, just to have to repeat it again.
Somehow, finally, it worked ... well ... sort of. I'm not sure if the spilled soft drink on the keyboard affected it or what, (thank-you cat for walking across my keyboard when I wasn't watching!) I ended up stripping everything out of that computer, down to absolute bare bones, if that's possible, but it still acted badly. I finally just bought a new lap top, got a Dell, paid nearly $1000 for it, touch screen/with Note Book capabilities, flip back keyboard, business machine, it came with Win 10, and it smokes!
I have the old one, keep it plugged in, and sometimes "maybe if I'm lucky" it will let me access the internet! I should just throw the thing out. Yea, I blame Win 10 on that. And yes, it did take hours and hours to install and re-install.
