The MPAA is still very much against breaking the encryption. Why? Follow the money. If the law were to be stridently enforced, or the encryption never broken in the first place, they could score two or three sales for every person who wants to watch any movie on their TV AND phone AND tablet.
I'm not saying I agree with the law :)
I expect eventually this will get overturned just like ripping CDs to MP3 eventually got overturned. Until then, we have to monkey around with video capturing to allow our consciences to remain clear. Not a huge problem, just a fact of life.
