Legally copying DVDs to a laptop

In an earlier post I mentioned that my Digital recorders installed DRM codes so that even though I wrote the song, I sang the song and I recorded it (Automatic mode) I could not copy it.

I failed to mention I also had a way to override that (No longer have it) but I will say again: My opinion of this DRM and Digital Millennium copyright stuff is not something I care to type, do not wish to melt monitors.
