I have this Pinnacle MovieBox HD. I got it to connect my laptop (without Firewire capablity) to my digital video camera (that requires Firewire to transfer movies).
It also works great to video capture commercial movies I own on VHS tape that I can't get on DVD. I own the movie, so I want to keep it after VHS is dead and completely gone. Movies I can just buy on DVD, I buy a DVD copy.
As far as I know, this unit is no longer available new, but you may be able to find one on the used market.
