We added our home phone to our wireless plan (Verizon) a couple of years ago.
The cost is $10.00 per month and we share the minutes with our other wireless phones. We have been all over the country and take the home phone with us. It works as advertised. Just buy the cordless phone you want from the store and get the battery that will give you the most battery life. plug in at night or into an inverter when on the road. Verizon is a good service for staying connected. My DW often chats for an hour or longer going down the road.
