With Straight Talk you have to purchase the home phone unit for $79.99. For Verizon the unit is "Free" with their plan. After 16 months the Straight Talk unit would be paid for. I am using the Straight Talk version at my home and will be taking it with me when I head for Florida after Thanksgiving.
Of course, then your locked into the Verizon plan for the term. Unless, you pay an early termination fee. I'm not sure 30 days is enough time to assess the product. I'd also opt for the Straight Talk version.
