The advantage of Verizon's Home Phone (or AT&T's, Straight Talk, or others) device is that you can plug a wireless phone system (not a cell phone) into it and have multiple phones on the same #. At home, all you need to do is unplug your house wiring from the land line connection, plug the Home Phone box into the house wiring, and your home system is connected through the device.
If you only need one phone, the cell phone is a good solution, but if you want to connect more than one phone, the Home Phone system is an inexpensive solution. If you are going to travel with it, try to get one that works on the Verizon network - best overall connectivity...
