Maybe I'm as dense as my ex wife claims but I can't see an advantage over just a simple cell phone other than using an old number. Anybody I wanna talk to has my cell number.
We have been using the Verizon Home Phone Connect for over three years and I can tell you there are some differences. First, you can get service with it in areas where the cellphone signal is too weak. I assume it's because of the antenna on the Home Phone Connect. The reception and clarity on all calls is significantly better than on a cellphone. You don't get any of the talking over each other problems evident on most cellphone calls. If you have a given number of minutes on your cellphone plan, the Home Phone Connect can supplement as it has no usage limits. You may even want to lower your cell plan to a less expensive one with fewer minutes. As far as the number goes you can always transfer your home number to a cellphone if you wanted, so no advantage there.
We are on the road about half the year and at home the other half. We have identical walk around phones in the MH and at home. I simply unplug the Home Phone Connect from one and plug it into the other depending on where we are at and it works great - we no longer have an account at ATT charging >50/mo for basic home service!
So, if you're using this in your RV and call 911, will they respond to your RV location or your home location?
