I was at a Verizon Store and was ask about my home phone. I was quoted a wireless home phone for $20. a month with unlimited long distance. I was told that I could take it on vacation and have my hom...

Since this is really a cell phone service with your home number "ported" to the cell phone box, when you call 911 the cell tower will switch you to the 911 center that serves that area.
