We have had our VZW Home Phone Connect for over 3 years and love it. I on plugged the home network from the outside world and plugged the Home Phone in to a phone jack close to where we put the Home box (close to a window for better signal). I now have 6 wireless phones and 4 wired phones that can be used(we have a phone everywhere in the house). The battery back up works great but you need to have a wired phone to use it or you still can't call out because the wireless phones need power. It goes with us on trips so we can have our home phone with us in the camper or when visiting relatives for a few days. We have a small wired phone that we plug into it so we don't have to have AC power, we just plug it into the camper 12 volt. Besides the other things people have mentioned it also comes with voice mail so we don't bother having it on when we go down the road and just pick up messages when we setup camp.
