As a retired meteorologist, I've always wanted to have my eye on the weather, especially when camping out in the wide open spaces. For years I had a Maximum anemometer and directional vane mounted on the roof of our home. When we moved to a condo and I was not allowed to install it, I decided to use on our RV. It was a wired system so I had to run a cable from the interior read-out dial to the roof where it terminated in a waterproof connector. The anemometer and directional vane were mounted on a 4-5' mast clamped to the roof rail near the ladder. For travel I could easily dismount the instruments and flip the mast down and clamp it parallel to the rail.
