I have a 2008 Jayco 36FS bunkhouse and am looking to add satellite (Directv). I want an in-motion roof mount unit as we mainly will be using it on the road for the kids.We currently have 4 tvs- 1 in the master, one in the hallway across from the bunkbeds, 1 in the cabover and another for outside use in a storage compartment. We would like to be able to put signal to all 4 jacks if possible. Can this be done? I do not need hd, standard def is fine as that is what we have at home (I do not have clear sight to the hd satellite at home). We currently have a ton of boxes on our plan, and if they work could put them in the rv for trips instead of buying more if this can be done.I noticed that Wineguard states 2 receivers, KVH states multiple. I would think with multiswitches we should be able to get signal to all just like in our house.What is the best setup to go with?

You say you want an in motion unit. Surely you don't plan on having someone in the trailer while traveling? Did I miss something?

With a KD as we have. You can also run 2 receivers or a DVR.

We use a Trac-Vision R6 in motion dish which does not track the DirecTV high definition satellites. I transfer the TiVo DVR receivers to and from our coach as needed. From time to time I need a new DirecTV TiVo receiver and find the best source of the older R-10 TiVo’s is Weaknees.com Using the Trac-vision in motion dish and DirecTV we have no problem with reception. Hope this helps.

You can also use an HD receiver with the setup you describe, you just won't receive HD programming. You can use the Red/White/Yellow (RCA) outputs to an RF modulator and watch SD programming on any connected TV.
In summary, you can use any receiver on most of the satellite antennas, you just need to decide if HD is a priority or not.

If you have a video selector box where all video inputs are routed and then you select what want on each device, you only need the in-motion dish and one receiver with its output connected to that selector box. This means ALL TVs would have to watch the same thing at the same time. This usually only works with older systems using coax for video input, not HDMI unless you have an HDMI splitter.

Be aware that "in-motion" antennas (DOME) with DirecTV can NOT receive HDTV, onlly SDTV.

With dish a dome can get it all.. but only for one receiver at a time.

My DW watches the Boob Tube when we are on the road. Fine with me. Keeps her out of the front seat chatting away or snoring. lOL

My kids have no problem watching tv in motion. They are pros...Heck my 3 year old is a pro on a lot of iphone based games. Makes my head spin watching him.

Are you sure the kids can watch TV while in motion? It's the old `eyes don't match what the body feels' syndrome.
I have a dome on my TT and if I had it to do over again I would opt for the portable unit that can be set out in the open with no worries about a tree being in the way.

I have two TV's, with one TiVo per TV. Each TiVo has two satellite cables. This enables me to record two channels per TiVo.

How many TV's can you use at once? Or how many are wired to work?
