We disliked paying for junk and right wing extremist political and "religion" channels with our satellite service and starting migrating off it.
We found that with our Cradlepoint Wifi router that has Wifi as WAN that we could run the Mifi through it and know to the minute what our usage has been during the month. We use the $8 Netflix streaming plan and stream in low def (same as normal pre-HD broadcase) and let the Blu-Ray DVD player upscale it for our 52" LCD screen and it works perfectly.
A TV show that would be an hour with all the commercials is 42 minutes and about 230MB when streamed. We use the Millenicom 20GB plan which provides for about 80 hours of streaming during the month. I get my news from the internet or public radio and weather from the internet as well so no need to "TV" as such.
This setup provides for our internet access as well and works both at home and on the road.
