Replay is obsolete as it only supports old analog SDTV broadcasts. It has no digital tuners nor the hardware to support high definition.
Tivo is the current available product to do this. And its pretty darn good at it. You do not have to have a month to month subscription, you can purchase a 'lifetime' sub tied to the box which is the exact same business model Replay used back in the day. Tivo lets you select which you would prefer, but it is money ahead to buy the fully subscribed lifetime service up front. Even if you do not keep the box, the resale value of the subscription negates any loss.
