lost all wifi on DW's computer,

wife will explain.
I run Windows 10. We use a Verizon wireless "JetPac" connection. Yesterday, I wanted to print a letter and discovered that my Wifi connection was gone. Under Internet Properties: Connections, I can see "Verizon Wireless-VZAccess" It appears to be a dial-up???
I tried to use "Manually set up a new wireless connection", and got an "Unexpected error occured" message. Thank you in advance for any help or advice!!

  • The last time one of the computers had a issue and wouldn't ley me do a restore point, I had caught something. I went into safe mode and ran windows defender and then a restore point.

i just went thru a cd/DVD drive problem

    device mgr, restore, reboot etc..
    would not fix it
but going to 'Recovery' and choosing 'Refresh'
    did fix it

it won't hurt to try it
be sure to login as admin
    and/or

JIM - It won't let me do anything like that. I see where you do but it says can't do this at this time...

I have more time to play with it now that I out of the woods for having a working syste now with my XP...

I'd even take it back to WIN8.2 if I could and start over with WIN 10...

Some reason all of the NETWORK INTERFACE is corrupted...

WIN XP I would just reload some drivers and all would be well haha...

Since we use the CLOUD now to down things I don't even have WIN 8 or WIN 10 CD... you do everything online haha...

Hopefully I have missed something on taking it back to a good restore point....

  • Presuming that the Verizon works fine on a different computer??
  • Might I suggest doing a restore point and taking the machine back a few days.

Wish I was that lucky haha... I have a WIN8.2 updated to WIN 10... DELL INSPIRON 17R5737 Laptop which has been flawless since changing over... COuple of days ago I logged off at midnight and when I go up the next morning I see I have no NEWTWORK connections... Tried everything I can think of...

Since I can't talk to the NETWORK Interface I can't reset back to good known session either.. I did find a page that list everything loaded up from START and I see a whole of of things that say DISABLED.. Can't change them to ENABLED yet... On my main TASK BAR my Internet and WIFI are both RED X'd out... Doing let the computer fix it self doesnt go very far before its says can't fix it...

SO for the past few days I have been moving files from the WIN 10 to zip drives which worked and finally got all of user stuff on zip drives...

Now I am setting up my old WIN M90 XP machines and so far looks like I am back in business... My WIN XP have downloaded a bunch of UPDATES from MS so I guess that answers the question that XP isn't dead yet haha...

I am just now sitting back and getting into my daily routine here with my favorites forums - country music - and good fresh made brewed coffee bean coffee... haha

I first though it was my internet but could not log into my VERIZON MIFI setup which is my backup internet here at home... Of course all the other computers log-in just fine...

I used to be able to track these down with my XP machines but the WIN 10 does all of this for you and finally says go talk to a neighbor haha... Unfortunatly for me this WIN 10 laptop is out of new warrenty with QVC...

I'll fix it up somehow now that I am back in internet business haha... My M90 DELL DOCKING stations work better anyway running my DUAL 24-inch monitor setup...

That was ONE FAST DELL LAPTOP too... darn it...

That happened to my DW's laptop.
    I rebooted. Nada
I disabled then re-enabled the WIFI. Nada
    I re-installed the driver. Nada
I finally decided the WIFI card had died. I bought a new one and installed it. Nada.

Finally, I noticed on the keyboard a key with a WIFI tower icon. I thought NO WAY! I held down the FN key and pressed the WIFI tower icon. EUREKA, WIFI WORKED. She has no idea how she had managed to hit the FN key and that WIFI tower key at the same time.

The only good that came from that was that the old WIFI card was B/G and the new card was B/G/N.

Most likely a driver issue, Wish I could help but when I had issues like that with my HP Stream I ended up sending it back to HP.. They reseated the Wi-Fi Card. But a driver update did it again. I then disabled updates for that driver.
