Map routing on laptop

Is anyone using a laptop with GPS receiver and map routing software? I like seeing the map routing on my large laptop screen and ease of being able to zoom in and out as I want to. I really liked Microsoft Streets and Trips, but they discontinued this program. Is there a good alternative software program I can run on Windows 10?

Do a google search for running Microsoft S&T on a Windows 10 machine as I know it has been done even though Microsoft says it's not compatible.

I really want to stay away from Streets and Trips going forward since it is not being supported and I cannot purchase updated maps with POI. I really would like a good alternative to this. It seems like Delorme may be the answer. Thanks

Delorme Street Atlas for over 14 years..great program. Great add-ons at Discovery Owners Group and POI Factory

So it looks like I will probably order this program. What is the process for adding the points of interest add ons? Is it a fairly easy process?

We've used Delorme Street Atlas for 20 yr. or so. You don't need internet to plan your route.

Does Delorme have a GPS sensor, or can one be used to give real time feed?
Why yes, yes they do: http://shop.delorme.com/OA_HTML/DELibeCCtpSctDspRte.jsp?section=10091

This looks like a good program. I just want to be able to update the road maps every couple of years and make sure the points of interests are up to date. Has this been your experience with it?

  • I am still using Streets and Trips on Win 10. I am going to keep using my 2011 version until the disk wears out.
Undertow software has the newer version of Trailer Life director. It doesn't have all the campground info but has locations, trip routing and GPS. Under tow
