Just installed some new updates for Win7, and they blocked LAN and wireless connectivity. Had to take the tower to the office and pay the IT guy on the side to disable the problem software. It was something about ID shortcut, he didn't want to tell me too much. What fun those Microsoft guys are.

Why wouldn't your IT guy tell you what he did for your money?
I let Windows 7 handle the updates and haven't had any issues. I use a paid for AV and Firewall, never been infected or hacked. I'd really want to know what he did and why he blamed MS updates.
As said there hasn't been any additional updates for MS since 7/10 with one exception which was the "Windows Malicious Software removal Tool" on 7/28.
I don't understand the "move to a new OS" answers as the end all to every problem.
