Mifi Antenna

Now that I am back on unlimited Verizon, I was wondering about boosting a VZW Mifi and if anyone had tried it. I know about the We boost and the Max Amp packages, which both seem too cumbersome for what I am looking for. But I was wondering if anyone had just attached an antenna to a Mifi and had success getting signal where there is little to no signal without it. I am curious what Mifi you have an what antenna you used.

What model jetpack/MiFi do you have?

I am not sure yet, I haven't bought one yet. I guess recommendations on those would help as well.

    Thanks everyone for the responses!!

AC791L is probably the latest and best of the MIFI hotspots. Accepts two antennas, has latest LTE bands and is backwards compatible to 3G older signals. Some only pick up LTE limiting your reception in rural areas.

Thanks for the heads up!!! That's one of the ones I was looking at.
  • I also just changed to the new Verizon unlimited data plan. I use a Wilson Sleek and their Home and Office kit. That most always results in a gain of two bars.

A couple things about the plan.

You get 22 gigs of 4G and then MAY be throttled. But if you use a phone as a hotspot or hook up a Jetpack, you get 10 gigs of 4G (when using as a hotspot), then unlimited at 3G speeds. My cost for a phone line is $80/month if you go paperless and autopay (debit only). I can add a Jetpack for $20/month and it will come with it's own data - not shared.

You will see Verizon advertize "Unlimited data for $45/line". That is for 4 phones. It's $100 base plus $20 for each phone = $180/4 = $45/line using paperless billing and autopay.
