MiFi Service

I use the VERIZON MIFI 2200 unit with a 3GB dataplan. If we just do checking the mail, bank acct, and doing alittle surfing it works ok for us. If you have to downsteam any HDTV programs then you really have to watch the usage...

We also use the WILSON CRADLE that has an outside antenna connection which gives us real big local WIFI hot spot area. This is normally where I dock my MIFI unit. I just sit the MIFI unit into the cradle like a cellphone. I can run off internal battery for four hours or plug into inverter power in the trailer.

This MIFI unit will allow up to 5 WIFI connections in your local WIFI HOT SPOT area such as your laptops and tablets etc... The big beauty of this for us is it does not take up any of our cell phone to work. This unit has its own cell phone for admin.

Wouldn't go anywhere without mine...

The MILLENCON (hope I spelled it correctly) has a 5GB dataplan for 50 a month no contract deal and they use the VERIZON NETWORK. If I ever lose my grandfathered in 3GB dataplan for $27 a month thru VERIZON this is who I will switch to.

We started looking at Millenicom's service after running into a problem with our current carrier. We're supposed to have unlimited data which appears to only work when we're on their network. Earlier this month when in a location where we were on a roaming carrier, at either 2 or 3 gig they slowed us down so much that the service was basically unusable. When we called them, they said that unlimited didn't apply while roaming.

In looking at Millenicom's site, I did see the statement "Usage over 50 gigabytes in one month will alert our investigative team" and I have no problem with that. Does Millenicom roam onto other carriers when Verizon service is not available and could we run into the same roaming limit problems as we had above?

We have the Jetpack. We never turn our Jetpack off and 2 laptops plus 2 tablets are connected 24/7. My wife downloads lots of books and reads several newspapers online. I do a lot of reading and downloading of manuals and such. I also monitor a site that updates dates constantly weekdays. Our average monthly usage is 8 to 11 GB. We have the Millenicom 20GB, which after our last software update now shows it as unlimited.

You can go into the Jetpack set up and turn off roaming if you wish. But I guess if you have the unlimited you must have Sprint as the carrier. We went with the Verizon plan as Sprint has poor to no coverage in many of the areas we go to including our home base.

No, we don't have Sprint, we're using a regional cell service in Alaska and we went to New York for several weeks. If someone was using the Jetpack and turned off the roaming, how would they get service if they couldn't pick up Verizon?

3GB should be plenty based on your description. What is the charge if you exceed the limit? Ours is $10/GG.

This just about mirrors our usage and we too, use Millenicom Jet Pack on the Verizon network. In fact the Jet Pack says Verizon right on it.

The "unlimited" plan from Millenicom uses Sprint and not Verizon and Sprint has some very strict roaming rules. Last time I checked, Sprint only allowed 300MB/month while roaming.
The Verizon plans from Millenicom are limited to 10 or 20GB/month depending upon your plan/hardware selection.

I have Verizon Mi-Fi. Had 3G, now have 4G. 3G is fine. I see no big difference. If you sign a contract with Verizon, you can suspend it 2x per year up to 6 months I believe. My sister does that. We full time so mine is on all the time. I have used it all over the USA with only 2x when I couldn't get service. (no cell service either). I also bought a Wilson Sleek online at Walmart for a little over $100. Got the taller window mount antenna. In fringe zones I can now get on the internet. Of course if you have no service, the booster won't help.
