It was just a matter of time. Never did make sense that a company A would allow company B to sell A's product for less than they would sell if for.
Agreed.
Here is my guess. Years ago VZ had excess network capacity. Rather then doing nothing with it, they sold it wholesale to Millenicom.
Recently retail users are consuming more and more data. Video streaming, music, sending pictures, etcetera. The former excess capacity is gone. VZ made a good business decision to sell data at retail and not wholesale.
I'm guessing they simply told Millenicom that they would no longer wholesale data to them. End of Millenicom. - MrWizardModeratorwhat kind of Wording do you expect any corporation to make
something like "we sold you to somebody else"
or "our business model failed"
or "we couldn't make money do to rising costs, so we are folding"
yes people are restless..
let it settle, and see what happens
Nothing you or i can do will change, what ever vzw decides
fanning the flames of fear and worry will not help - Bill_SatelliteExplorer II

There is such a thing as honoring legal and binding contracts
And I know first hand about honoring grandfathered plans, of the company that was bought out
Since there are no contracts with Millenicom, what legal and binding contracts would you be referring to? This may not have been a mutually acceptable buy out by Verizon based upon some of the "we are no longer involved" wording of the 2nd e-mail. - PamelajoExplorerI'll just quote what Technomadia says "no contract" means in relation to our Millinicom plans...
"But here’s one of the biggest pieces of information to be very aware of – the no contract thing is a two way street.
Millenicom can change the terms as they may need to – especially if they are faced with a change imposed by the upstream carrier.
Millenicom customers have seen this in action – many experienced serious heartache when Millenicom had to rather abruptly discontinue their unlimited Sprint-based plans in the fall of 2013 for circumstances outside of their control. Customers relying on the service were left scrambling to find alternatives, and Millenicom did everything they could to help by forging direct migration paths to other MVNOs." technomadia - TechWriterExplorer

Claiming every thing is going to go up, or stop Is simply wild speculation.
Totally agree. I dropped my 20GB Millenicom data plan and upped my Verizon data plan to 40GB when Verizon dropped their data rates this month.
I'm saving about $80 by doing this -- here's an explanation.
Those of you with phone/data plans with Verizon (and maybe even AT&T) might want to look at the new data plan rates. BTW, I believe if you just have a data plan, the rates will not be as low. - MrWizardModerator

all I want to know is the price staying the same and for how long?
If VZW abides by past history of behavior
The pricing and plans of current customers will stay as is Unaltered
For active customers
Those who like to turn things on and off
Will likely get a new pricing, as "plan no longer offered"
I suggest current customers keep the acct active IF they want to keep the current pricing - MrWizardModeratorBy no contact I assume you mean " month to month"
But you pay every month and keep service active
I'm out of contact on my phone
I pay my bill every month , nothing in my service voice or data, changes
I gets lots off offers to upgrade, free phone get the latest and greatest
I just ignore them and keep paying my bill
My unlimited data plan is no longer available, no way am I changing that - PamelajoExplorerBut we don't have contracts with Millinicom. These are all "no contract" plans.
Again, I hope you are right and I honestly lean towards thinking we will probably be "grandfathered" but I don't think we should assume that based on that second email. I'm still confused as to what info they were "correcting" with that second email. - LearjetExplorerall I want to know is the price staying the same and for how long?
- MrWizardModeratorFirst off, the service has always been provided by Verizon
All Mellenicom does is handle the accounting
The middleman between "M" and VZW
Years ago When Airtel my old provider became part of Verizon, nothing changed , except the name on the bill
Same for millions of other people all across this nation when Alltel and others became part of VZW
And they really were separate companies with their own towers and equipment
Will VZW want people to change to different plans...yes
Will you be "FORCED" To change , I really doubt it
There is such a thing as honoring legal and binding contracts
And I know first hand about honoring grandfathered plans, of the company that was bought out
As far as blogs, If they had any real info they would post it
All they are doing is the same wild speculation
