Millenicom on Linux.

How well will this work with Linux. I am using the Zorin distribution.
Zorin is based on Ubuntu.
  • If your pc has WiFi, it will work
It is a WiFi access point, no special drivers or programs needed

X2. Works with android, apple, pc, unix, etc.
  • I seem to remember that it requires that you use Verizon Access Manager which is a Windows based Program. Linux has a Program called Wine that will run some Windows based Programs. Would Wine run the Verizon Access Manager without a Problem?
  • Don't know about 'wine'
    remember this is wifi,
if there is a windows setup program, you should only need it ONE time
to program in your cell number , password etc..

after that, any device with the correct password will be accepted

    like setting up ANY ROUTER
  • If you choose the Millenicom MiFi device/plan, then you would have no problem if you have a WiFi PC. With the MiFi, you communicate by WiFi through the device to the internet, or to the device using any browser. The MiFi is just like a router. And, like Mr Wizard said, if you can get your PC to work with a router, then the MiFi would be setup the same way.

If you choose the Millenicom USB modem plan on the Verizon network, then you would need to run the Verizon Access Manager software to use the modem. If you choose the AT&T plan, I am not sure what would be needed.
  • The current Mifi and the latest 4G USB modems do not use Verizon Access Manager client software. The devices only need a PC with a browser for any setup and configuration that is needed.
