Then if I were you I would deep six the old phone, purchase a cheap smart phone, and get the smartphone plan I linked above. You Will not be paying any more probably than you do now but will still have the regular talking

I have been doing the exact same thing for many years also using my wifes Tracfone. Finally got tired of paying Verizon for my service and just recently switched my smartphone to Tracfone.
