Just be warned though, The redraw speed will not be as fast as say a internal PCI video card.. BUT, you can often setup a split screen with the laptop screen and the external screen which should allow you more desktop area to work with..
Alternately you can buy a monitor that has the USB video card built in.. The monitor may require two USB ports or a powered USB hub in order to get enough power..
