Thats input impedance, not the meter gender. I'm pretty sure my RCA Senior VoltOhmist (now theres a flash from the past) would do the same with its much higher than the average impedance. Back when I was using it for 2-way, only the LO didn't like me poking on it.
Either way, yeah, I wouldn't trust any floating ground to an essentially unloaded meter.
BTW- does that HF have an analog slider on it?
