Traditional hard drives are electro mechanical devices, while SDDs have no moving parts. As such, HDDs can be totally ruined to exposure to a certain amount of G-Force.
Stored data in SDDs can be accessed faster than HDDs because there is no motor to spin the disk and last much longer.
They are expensive however.
I can't say much about computer screen because they are ALL made of glass.
