If you've already got the surround speakers, the sat receiver, and the TV, why not just get a new system and pitch the parts you don't need? There is nothing magic about an "RV" video system, so you can install anything that will provide what you want.
Every outside stereo I've seen (why someone needs this is a mystery to me!) has been completely separate from the inside system.
Finally, are you sure that DVD isn't working? I'd pull it inside the house and test it out some more.
