Well, to make a long story short, I got it working. I did not have a manual for the TV and could not figure out how to get the screen to work. So, I got up behind it and got the model number, looked online for a manual, and got it to work.
So far the DVD player seems to be working as it should. Feeling a bit dumb for not thinking of this sooner. We never had the TV working because, even though it has the Direct TV box and antenna, we don't subscribe to it, so never used it. But we are going to be in a campground with hookups here in another week, so will test it to see if cable works.
