Need wifi.

We have pay as you go winegard sat TV.
Unfortunately, Dish does not provide internet service for rv'ers. What is the alternative, how much does it cost? Tired of "so-called" free wifi at parks that don't work.
  • We are using StraighTalk that we bought at Walmart. It is a cellular hotspot thaat works on the Verizon network. It is ppay as you go. You buy cards to replenish the data as needed. 4 Gb costs $40 and is good for 60 days - no rollover.

PS.. Verizon also will allow you to put your device on "vacation" and suspend billing. For details, check their website. FAQ's.
Be sure to check the "details". The maximum suspension allowed is 180 days per year (365 days). If you only want to use the hotspot during summer travels, in might be better to use "pay as you go".
  • A major difference between a VERIZON hot spot using regular service and Pay as you go(PAYG), is that PAYG does not use roaming. At least it did not about a year ago. That may not suit needds for those outside of Verizon tower range, even if in space of another carrier tower.
  • I know our ATT works well for us. We tend to run out of data around the 20th of the month on our 3 Gig Plan. The cool thing is it just drops to very slow speed but unlimited data after the data package runs out. Still fine for surfing either through the Iphone hotspot or directly on Iphone. Essentially 45 bucks a month gives us unlimited data, messaging and phone. The speed is really not that bad. A little clunky but, meh.
