Net 10 cell phone

I would like to hear from Net 10 users as to how good the coverage is across the US and how well they like the system. I am tired of the way that Verizon gouges us. I used to get 4GB for $50 to tether my laptop to my phone when travelling. Now for $50 I can only get 1 GB.
When I last asked them to turn on the broadband for me, it didn't work. I am seriously thinking of going to Net 10. With a smart phone, will it create a hot spot to wirelessly connect to my laptop?
Thanks for your time and input.

  • I don't use Net10, but do use Straight TAlk, which is Verizon service around here. I get unlimited calls, texts and data. I downloaded FoxFi and now can use use my phone as a hotspot. Works fine for me.
  • 1 gig for $50
did you reduce your bill to a total price of $50, do a new free phone upgrade?
verizon did not just 'take away' what you had previously
sounds like you did a phone upgrade with a plan change to 'shared data'
1gig included in your $50 a month bill, or one gig of shared data for all phones/devices for $50, either way you did something to change and accept the new contract

    i remember having 5 gig for $49
    then 5 gig for $29.95
then unlimited for $29.95 ... where i am now and where i will stay
i will buy used replacement phones before i upgrade and loose my unlimited plan

I use the VERIZON MIFI 2200 unit with a 3GB dataplane and it works rather well giving me a local WIFI hotspot for five connections.

Verizon has always been the best plan for us almost anywhere we go to...

They also have their 4G MIFI network for around $50 a month I think it is... I never liked the idea of the tethering my cell phone as it ties it up just for that purpose when being used.

  • A quick search should tell you what system they use. Where we are now, ATT is zero service ans Verizon is full 3G/4G connection all day. And Im not way out in the boonies. 4 miles from a decent size town.
