I bought the unit off ebay and it comes with a boost splash page on startup so it was apparently intended for the US market, that's why I'm surprised that it works in Canada but not in the US. I was going to try a boost card but they charge $10 and their rates aren't that great afterwards so I was on the fence whether to sink more money into it (had the roam card working swapping it from device to device for the duration of it's contract).
It's an old enough model that netgear doesn't provide any support and nobody on their forum has offered any advice.
I thought maybe it was an apn setting that had to be done manually but I've been through 8-9 cards and I don't think I would have screwed up the apn *every* time...
