Yes, your right. The forum software does not permit direct embedding of files, so you need to provide a link to it from a hosted site as you've done. But here is a trick to turn a Google Drive file into a direct download link with no preview:
- Your Google Drive URL link:
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_Y1X-sgTS47bVhXYlJqVUtQREU/edit
To make a Google Drive file into a direct download link:
