Are you talking about a "real computer" or a smart phone.....or both ??
If both, your stated requirements are just unrealistic and you are your own worst enemy.
If you want something that looks and works similarly on both a home computer and a smart phone, you REALLY need to bite the bullet and go with a web application......like Gmail (Google) or maybe Yahoo.
I loved Outlook Express and hate Windows Live Mail. Although I didn't want to use a "cloud" based application, I did and it didn't kill me.
