With Android, a new battery costs 99 cents including shipping, and you just pop off the cover and stick it in. For boondocking, you can carry spare batteries if you want to -- or spend another 99 cents for a car charger.
I have only once seen a late-model android phone where you could not replace the battery. The newest have gone back to replaceable. Probably due to user demand!
I strongly disagree. Here are the current and next to current flagships models of several manufacturers, all with non-removable batteries. In fact, only LG seems to have removable batteries.
