New iPhone 5 apps

Just bought an iPhone 5. I have used Macs for 8 years so am familiar with OS. We travel mainly in the West. I am trying to decide which apps would be most useful for us. There is iExit for what is off interstates, Gas Guru and gas Buddy for fuel locations and pricing, All Stays and RV Parking for campgrounds, Weatherbug, Farenheit, Weather Live for weather, etc. Which is the most helpful for location, reviews, info, etc.?

There are a few that would be helpful to us in particular: The Photographers Ephemeris for sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset, shadows, etc., iBird West for bird ID, Peaks West to id mountains, Star Walk, Sky Guide, Sky View for looking at the sky in places where you can actually see the night sky.

Any other apps which you have found indispensable? Like wifi finder, apps for posting travel blogs (I use Wordpress but its app was given 3?s), photo organizer apps, lists/organizers for camping supplies to remember to bring, any other photography apps?

This little gadget will make life so much easier or more complicated.
  • I'll add a couple to the list:
    Pandora
WRVO - My favorite NPR station
    CampWhere - Non Commercial Campgrounds
CardStar - Keeps all your discount scan cards on the phone
    CampAspect - Sunrise & location
    Night Sky
    Google Earth
    iBird +

My complete list is out of control - app list
  • This should keep me busy checking all these out. The list from vermilye is exhaustive but extensive. Today is a rainy day so a good time to investigate. iBird is a must for DH and Photographers Ephemeris for me. Probably the only paid apps for awhile until we really figure out what works and what duplicates. Happy Memorial Day and safe travels to all.
  • Any that alert you to the cheapest beer prices within 10 miles ?

Never ask a man what kind of smartphone he has. If it's an Iphone, he'll tell you. If not, why embarrass him.. :)

The sad thing is that iPhone owners actually believe this.

BTW, I proud to state that I DON'T have an iPhone.

Do they have an app for that? Or did you think that one up all by yourself?

I am also glad I didn't purchase one of the smaller screen phones, but I sure wouldn't belittle anyone that enjoys theirs.
