There is a lot involved with speakers.   The speakers need to be matched to the amplifier, Using 100 watt speakers on a 20 watt amp is not going to work well, neither is the other way around,  Also the "Compartment" (What you call cut out) needs to be matched to the speakers.
Interesting fact: Back in the 70's one of the "Hot" guitar amps was the Vox Super Beetle.. but the ones sold in the USA did not work all that well because this amp was designed to work with a SPECIFIC set of speakers, which were not allowed in the US for some reasonk so they used, as I recall Jensens, good speakers but not a perfet match.
HEATHKIT sold a Gutair amp which was nearly identical to the Super Beetle, in fact the only difference (it was licensed by the way) Was that the HEATH amp was matched to the Jensen speakers, worked much better.
This baby coudl be used by a demolition crew.. Strike a courd on full gain and the house crumbles.
