Love my Tailgater, but as others have said it's only western birds.
As for connections, I used the cable input on the side of my TT as I have no separate sat input. In my case, and quite probably in yours I had to make a minor modification that's far easier than running a new line.
In short, the satellite needs a "clean run" from the dish to the receiver -- in other words, no switches or splitters. My cable line runs from the outside to the antenna switch, so that you can switch between antenna (powered) and park cable (unpowered) without disconnecting. That switch will fubar your satellite signal. Since I never use park cable, I simply drilled another hole in that wall plate and put a male/male 75-ohm coax barrel connector in the wall plate. I disconnected the cable from the back of that wall plate and connected it to my new barrel connector. The DISH receiver connects to the other side of that barrel, bypassing the switch.
Of course, to still enable park cable you could put a loop-back from that new input to the old cable input on the switch. Or you could simply disconnect and reconnect as necessary.
