Newnan , GA

Seems like in 2014 a new CW was announced as planned for Newnan, GA on the SW side if ATL. Never heard anything else about it. Anyone know what the status or plans are for the west side of ATL?

  • Land do get pricey around Hotlanta! And I imagine Newnan is close enough to ATL to qualify for pricey land. Around the I-85 I-185 interchange its significantly toned down in value and price.

Its just a bummer for those of us who trade with CW to hump it across GA to Byron, or through ATL risking life and limb, or off to far away places like Anniston to get service or equipment. Its a real hike from these parts.

There are a few other operations in Columbus and Auburn /Opelieka but nothing on the scale of a CW store/dealership.

Guess we'll just have to burn one heck of a lot of gas and keep our visits to CW few and far between to get to one! Might even have to order the next motor-home through Amazon LOL.

Thanks Bucky and Tom. I knew I had seen it somewhere and I had also heard about it in late 2014 from another southern CW store. Must have been a hiccup???

Newnan would be a great spot ---but I never could figure why CW didn't explore or seek a more logical market site near the interchange of I-185 and I-85 to fill the southwest Atlanta market void. Its the only intersection of an interstate in Georgia outside a metro area, yet serving three metro areas all within a few minutes of each other???

A LaGrange/ I-85 site would capture all in one shot the Auburn/Opelika market, the Columbus/ Ft Benning Market and the southwest Atlanta market which are all quite large MSA's. The area is rich in year round RV activity with the large camping facilities at West Point Lake, Newnan, Lake Harding, Callaway Gardens, Pine Mountain, and the GA 1 corridor taking traffic off I-75. A real "Target Rich" environment for RVers and campers.

Go figure? But then again- if I'm so smart why ain't I rich LOL.

My guess is the price of land is the big factor, the CW North of Atlanta is up I-985 (Oakwood/Gainesville, GA) area, quite a ways north from Atlanta ---they do have a large location to Inventory a lot of stock.

Speaking of Atlanta Dealers, Southland RV is moving locations out of Buford, GA to a visible location off I-85, just north of Spaghetti Junction. This will provide thousands daily stuck in traffic, marketing opportunities for their RV's, along with their commitment to stellar service, and them having Quality RV's, it is a recipe for success.
